April 30, 2012 by marianne

It is perfectly quiet in my house this morning.  My husband is off on a business trip and I have a few minutes to reflect on the weekend.  Lots of things happened that changed my intended plans.  Saturday, I had hoped to visit Stone Barns in Potantico Hills, NY.  I have long wanted to go but found the property was totally closed as their sheep-sheering festival was sold out (note to self - go to this next year!).  While we could have dined at … [Read more...]

Sunday mornings, about 1964

April 29, 2012 by marianne

I am reading Judith Jones' The Tenth Muse, My Life in Food.  Over and over again I am amazed at famous food people who can recount their earliest childhood memories and their first inspirations about food so precisely.  They became "hooked" very early.  Something or someone in their purely impressionable early lives connects in some powerful way and, well, there it is, a life-long thread begins.  I guess this is just the truth about the passions … [Read more...]

Orange-Apricot Scones

April 28, 2012 by marianne

I am a great fan of breakfast cooking and baking.  Perhaps it is because my most abundant motivation occurs early in the day.  There's something very cozy about baking in a quiet kitchen very early in the morning:  measuring, mixing, forming, and having the giddy pleasure of sliding a tray into the oven in one physical form and then sliding it out in a completely other physical form.  There is always substantive anticipation - how will this rise, … [Read more...]

Anatomy of a Food Blog

April 27, 2012 by marianne

My husband asked me last night if I had written a list of things I would want to write about.   I don't need a list since I always have food issues swirling around in my head.  One thing's for certain.  While I plan on writing about and showing  recipes as I cook my way through this life, I will also write about my adventures with food media and venues.  I am always "researching" food media by reading and watching what is out there.  While life … [Read more...]

Well, We’re Getting There….

April 26, 2012 by marianne

Well, the process of setting up a blog is quite confounding for me.  Luckily, I have someone helping me who has infinite patience! Thank you, Bill W!  I made what is for me a momentous decision this week - to just proceed with my posts and not wait until everything is perfectly organized.  So, now I am beginning my blogging life in earnest.  You can join me and see how it goes!  I am thinking my blog as a "sprout" and you can watch it grow with … [Read more...]

Inauguration of Kitchen Inspirational

March 26, 2012 by admin

About Me:  In Milan July 2011   and me, November 2012 This is the inaugural day of my food and garden blog, called Kitchen Inspirational.   It is the culmination of a long-term dream of mine to be a writer, well, in more formal terms, anyway, as I have been a writer for my own pleasure all of my life and did a substantive amount of writing in my former corporate life, many moons ago and, pre-kids.   The title is meant to be a catch-all … [Read more...]
